James has been involved in teaching and coaching for over 20 years, and is closing in on his 100th Personal Programming Client, having coached and helped 100s more in various group settings.

Taking all those years of experience, and the diverse range of clients he has worked with, James delivers an assessment and program design based off hundreds of hours of learning and developing his craft.

All I can say is that getting James as a coach has completely changed everything for the better, from training to my lifestyle.
I started CrossFit and knew I always wanted to compete but had a lot of weaknesses in my training and nutrition that were effecting my performance massively.
After speaking with James and being entirely open about all the areas I need help with, it was honestly a game changer.
Some coaches would of run a mile, or thought my goals in the sport were way too ambitious but with James' training I have changed the way I fuel my body, hit weights and PBs and gymnastics elements that I thought were impossible but hit them in our first year of training.

Around 5 months into be coached by James, I got injured and thought that my training would be over for around 3 months. Instead of giving me the same, run of the mill, basic programming, James changed my whole mindset and training to work on my weaknesses to make me stronger for when I was able to fully return!

I have a coach that cares and pushes me to achieve my goals however big or small they might be!

I started working with James in 2019 after doing CrossFit for about a year. All my lifts have hugely increased and my gymnastics have improved so much they’ve turned from a serious weakness to nearly a strength (and we’re still working on it).

My open performance says it all, I placed 30,094 in my first RX Open. This year I came 2,395 worldwide and 271st in Europe in the Quarterfinals. Genuinely would have had no chance doing this without James.

As a personal programmer and online coach you have to focus on the client, on their goals and communicate with them effectively throughout the process.


ASSESSMENT

Your very first appointment will be all about getting to know you. You will tell us about your day to day life, your weekly schedule, your eating habits and, most importantly, your goals. Following this there will be a physical assessment, with the purpose of assessing your flexibility, strength and endurance. From this, we will have a very good understanding of how best to develop YOUR training program.

PROGRAMMING

Following the Assessment, James will design YOUR training. Your training program is designed based on your assessment results, your stated goals, your schedule of availability, etc. It is YOUR training program. James will take your results, feedback and videos (if applicable) into account when designing your continued programming.

NUTRITION & LIFESTYLE

Regardless of your goals, it is imperative you are giving adequate attention to your food choices. What should I eat? How much protein? How much fat? How much Carbohydrate? We will work with you to help you develop food habits that are both healthful and sustainable. This will be part of an ongoing conversation with your James.

ABOUT James

Throughout his early years as a swimming teacher, James thrived off the development and progress he saw on an almost weekly basis, and this is no different in his exposure to CrossFit over the past 9 years – having co-ran a gym, with his coaching at his current local box (CrossFit Bristol North), his online clients, and through the delivery of British Weightlifting L1+L2 courses.

James’ accolades within the fitness industry are spread over multiple sports. In his youth he was a Regional Champion + National Level Swimmer whilst also playing Rugby for Bristol. He is an undefeated MMA cage fighter, a National Endurance Lifting Champion and even holds a World Record in a weightlifting event. He has competed in numerous Crossfit competitions over the years, WPFG in LA in 2017, Regionals in 2018, won a Sanctional in 2020 and qualified for the Crossfit Games (Masters 35-39) that same year, before Covid put an end to him actually flying out to compete in America.
